The concept of “self” is a tricky one for me. I found liberation for the first time when detaching from self. I learned to see through the illusion of self before I really defined what this character in the game is. But I do believe we come here to play a role we intend for ourselves. The water chooses a container to experience from, and so I feel it’s important for me to acknowledge this self that I experience life as, even if I know it’s just a character in the game.

I’m glad you can recognize those things about yourself! Those are much more beautiful ways to see yourself than an occupation or orientation.

Thank you for this comment, Untangled Knots. Yes, those states of being seem far more intrinsic to me. I also believe the water chooses a container -- being a Pisces, love that analogy. To me, occupation, orientation, and others, are parts of the character in the game, not the Soul, or Authentic Self. Though I'm still amazed that people can know with such certainty, I'm an artist, I'm a mechanic, I'm a teacher. They seem so certain, so grounded. I've always marveled at that and wondered, how do they KNOW!?

Wow. One, I love where your questioning of a quote led you. Two, to shift perspective on what was perceived as failure into a step towards your core self hit me in the gut. Three, I love how you asked "Who am I then?"

Thank you so much for this wonderful feedback. I'm glad it was so meaningful! Early in my recovery/spiritual growth journey, I found it helpful to be willing to question everything, especially what I thought I already knew. Amazing results. Ooh, that sounds like a Note!

I have benefited immensely from Wayne Dyer's teachings! Knowing who I really am was and still is a huge learning/unlearning opportunity for me. Who I am is one self, united with all aspects of creation. This perfect unity makes change impossible- it can't be altered, damaged, or destroyed, that's what makes it the Truth. When I fail to accept this, it's because I believe I have changed myself already by things I have experienced/done/believed etc., when really these things are mistakes that need correction. My version of myself can keep me feeling separate; however, when I align with my true self, that which is already healed and whole I can realize what is and always will be, that I am limitless in power and in peace. I cannot fail to be this because I am this. Thank you for your post.

Thank you, Sunshine, for this insightful and uplifting comment! Yes, Wayne Dyer's teaching are awesome! I absolutely agree that aligning with our true self, we cannot fail. Getting there is the challenge, or the path. But it's absolutely worth the effort!
